I followed your experiment with interest, but decided to cancel my TypePad account because while I like the software, most of the templates look scabby to my eye, very amateurish and unprofessional. Next, I decided to try and design my own "look" and what do you know, you have to upgrade to the "Plus" package, When that offer only redimentary control of design, I looked again and I wuld need to upgrade to the next level of design control--$14.95/month now.
To make a long story shot, that ticked me off enough to decide there wasn't enought to offer over WordPress, and if I wanted to pay this much I might prefer Squarespace, which really looks and acts like a new generation of CMS.

Anyway, thanks for your trouble.
